Artist Biography

Stephanie Mirocha exhibits her paintings in numerous, juried art fairs throughout the Midwest.  Her love of expression through painting began at age 8 when her mother sat her down at the kitchen table with a Prang watercolor set.  Throughout the next 30 years she continued painting until the year 2000, when she took the plunge and began to exhibit her work professionally, full-time.

In college, while earning a B.A. degree in Philosophy at the University of Minnesota, Stephanie continued painting and taking art courses.   Over the next several years, her position at the University of Minnesota as a Graphics Designer/Media Artist supplied income.  Workshops with such masters as Russell Norberg and Zoltan Szabo greatly enhanced her learning, but it is steady practice that has been Stephanie's greatest teacher.  Being self-taught, primarily, she has developed her own style in a variety of forms, from floral still lifes, nature and landscapes to both abstract and surrealist art.  Mirocha's work is known for its bold use of color, innovative techniques and imaginative use of design.  The theme that appears continually is that of a deep love for the natural world.

Artist Statement:

"While painting I try to bring many things together from my life into a universal story on the paper.  I find the use of watercolors inspirational, fast flowing and free.  My goal is not only to connect with those viewing my work, but also to involve them -- to draw them into the story as well."
